The Latinx Student Union (LSU), led by third-year returning Executive Board member and President Alison Munoz, is a student-led Latinx-based organization at Hood College aimed to be an inclusive and welcoming place for people of all backgrounds.
LSU aims to be a diverse environment that celebrates culture and is welcoming to those who are looking for safe spaces and are willing to learn new things. The organization is best known for Fiesta, a fun cultural and social event hosted annually in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month on the quad.
Fiesta is only one of the many events LSU plans on hosting. Whether LSU hosts a quiet craft night or a Zumba night, the organization finds ways to make everyone feel welcome and excited to join.
“I believe this combination of fun, engagement and safety is what makes LSU such a meaningful organization to the Hood College campus,” Munoz said.
Munoz explained that LSU is always looking for new members and has openings in every way. A student could be a part of the executive board, regularly attend meetings, or just hang out. LSU wants to be a safe environment for everyone to enjoy.
“LSU is devoted to making students feel like they have an outlet where they can get away from their everyday lives,” Munoz said.
Students who are interested in keeping up with LSU events or attending a meeting can get up-to-date information by following the LSU Instagram, @hoodcollegelsu, or by looking for flyers in the Hodson-Beneficial Library.
