Hood College is expanding its educational outreach with the launch of an online bachelor’s degree completion program in the fall of 2026.
Students will be able to complete degrees in business, psychology and computer science. Current nurses may also be able to complete a bachelor’s of nursing degree.
The program comes as Hood looks to expand educational access to adult learners and others who need a flexible portal to finish their degree.
“Hood has a long tradition of supporting returning students,” said David Gurzick, chair of the department of economics and business administration.
Throughout the college’s history, Hood has continued to develop ways to help students complete their degrees, college officials noted.
The dean of the Graduate School, April Boulton, said, “The primary goal of the program is to create an accessible and flexible pathway for adult learners who have prior college credit but have not yet completed their bachelor’s degree.”
This initiative reinforces Hood’s commitment to aid students of all backgrounds in their educational goals, Boulton said.
Boulton said that the institution aims to accommodate individuals who are looking for the academic quality that Hood College provides while balancing work, family responsibilities, or military commitments with this program.
“For many, the path through college isn’t always a straight line,” Gurzick said. “Life gets in the way—people stop, pivot, take care of families, or build careers. But there’s tremendous power in returning and finishing something you started. That takes courage.”
Gurzick reflected on the college’s motto, Corde et Mente et Manu (with Heart and Mind and Hand), the initiative aims to honor and support individuals who never stopped believing in themselves.
The four majors coming to the program were selected based on employer needs, student interest, and the strength of the program. The school plans to add more majors to the program in the future, Boulton noted.
The tuition for the online completion program has not been released.
“This program is our way of saying to those who see potential in themselves—we see you, we value you, and we’re here to help you cross the finish line,” Gurzick said.
