The spring sports seasons are underway with many teams seeming likely to surpass last year’s performance.
Baseball
The baseball team is 16 games through their season with an overall record of 10-6 and a 3-0 record within conference.
The team started off hot, winning five of its first seven games, and looks to continue competing at a high level.
“Hopefully we continue to play good in conference, really, we’ve only lost the games besides two by one run. We’ve been competing well and growing as a team,” said sophomore outfielder Cameron Day.
As of now, the team is two wins off last year’s season total, with plenty of games left to play.
Softball
The softball team is coming off its spring break trip in Florida where the women won three of their eight games.
Upon returning to Frederick, the team traveled again March 22 to Arlington, Virginia, to play Marymount University, and split its two games in a 11-8 win and a 8-0 loss against the Saints.
On Thursday, the team competes against LVC at home in another conference bout.
Women’s lacrosse
The women’s lacrosse team is eight games into its season and concluded its out-of-conference play against Neumann University in Aston, Pennsylvania on Saturday.
As of press time, the team sat at a record of 3-5 and needs two more wins to match the overall win count from last year.
After a tough one-goal loss to Washington & Jefferson College on March 18, the team bounced back strong against Gwynedd Mercy University on March 22 with a dominant 20-8 win at home.
The team begins its conference schedule against York College of Pennsylvania on March 29.
Men’s lacrosse
The men’s lacrosse team began this year hot, with five straight wins to open the season.
The team currently sits at 6-2 and is one win away from matching last year’s win total of seven.
After its 5-0 season start the team dropped back-to-back games against Chatham University and Susquehanna University.
Despite these two losses, the team bounced back on March 22 against Marymount University in a thrilling 14-13 win.
The team begins its conference schedule on March 29 against York College of Pennsylvania, which is ranked No. 18 in the country by USA Lacrosse Magazine.
