Hood College\u2019s Coffeehouse returned for its first study session<\/p>\n\n\n\n
of the semester on Sept. 29, giving students a late-night space to study,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
complete assignments and socialize in Coblentz Dining Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event, hosted by Hood\u2019s Residence Life and sponsored by the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Black Student Union, was held from 9 to 11 p.m. Students were provided with<\/p>\n\n\n\n
coffee, tea and hot chocolate while they worked on assignments or used the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
space to study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was advertised as a \u201cBlack & Mild Study Lounge,\u201d a<\/p>\n\n\n\n
name chosen to create a relaxed, late-night atmosphere for students. Natanie<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kosh, president of the Black Student Union, said the name was intended to<\/p>\n\n\n\n
reflect the calming atmosphere organizers wanted to create while still representing<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the Black Student Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI wanted the event to give late night vibes, kind of jazzy,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kosh said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coffeehouse is designed to provide students with a place to<\/p>\n\n\n\n
work outside of their usual study environments while also giving them an<\/p>\n\n\n\n
opportunity to spend time with other students. Around 15 students attended the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The return of the event gives students a recurring option for<\/p>\n\n\n\n
late-night studying and socializing on campus. With drinks available throughout<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the evening, students can work on assignments in a different space and take a<\/p>\n\n\n\n
break from their routines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coffeehouse will continue every Tuesday from 9 to 11 p.m. in<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coblentz Dining Hall. The weekly schedule of the event allows students to<\/p>\n\n\n\n
attend throughout the semester and provides a consistent late-night study space<\/p>\n\n\n\n
on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
