Interested in furthering your education in graduate school, but don\u2019t know where to start?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hood\u2019s 4PLUS program makes it simple to move from an undergraduate to a graduate degree, according to a panel that spoke recently on the benefits of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alisa Gorham, who is studying biomedical science; Alyssa Murtaugh, who is studying counseling and Maura O\u2019Malley-Young, who is working toward an MBA, spoke about their experiences in the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith this program, you see that you’re taking classes that you’re interested in, and the program focuses more on what you want to do, and it makes it easier to be motivated,\u201d Murtaugh said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said that while at first she felt intimidated studying with non-traditional students, she soon realized everyone was learning together. \u201cWe were all at the same place of learning\u2026there really was no reason to be scared for me,\u201d Murtaugh said. \u201cEveryone in my class was super kind and supportive.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gorham said many of the students in her graduate program had studied with her in undergraduate courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI felt comfortable and it wasn\u2019t scary for me,\u201d she said<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program allows students to take up to nine credits as an undergraduate that can be applied toward the graduate program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students should indicate their interest in the 4PLUS program when they declare their major by the second semester of their sophomore year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
