Hood College’s baseball team continued its momentum, securing a series win over Alvernia University for the second time in program history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Blazers carried their energy into the next series, securing wins against York College of Pennsylvania, making them 9-6 in MAC Commonwealth play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The wins against York College put the Blazers back up in the MAC rankings, sitting tied for the second place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt goes to show how our team is bought into the idea of a faceless opponent,\u201d coach Mike Victory said. \u201cWhen we do the things we preach and practice well, who we are facing doesn\u2019t matter.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senior pitcher Aaron Heller helped the Blazers get their win against Alvernia in game two by throwing a complete game while allowing three earned runs on four hits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe got great pitching performances from all our arms this weekend and Aaron was another example of how great we can be when we get ahead and trust the process,\u201d Victory said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Blazers rank last out of 16 teams in the MAC conference in offensive statistics, whereas Hood’s pitching ranks fourth in the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt starts all the way back at the end of last season,\u201d senior pitcher Finn Scott-Daniels said. \u201cEveryone grinded for nine months straight to be able to go out there and perform our best.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scott-Daniels started the second game against York College, only allowing two runs on three hits in the first four innings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Blazers are looking to continue improving offensively to keep this success going through the rest of conference play in hopes of playing throughout May and reaching the MAC playoffs for the first time since the 2024 season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe need to keep improving offensively,\u201d Victory said. \u201cPitching and defense were tremendous; those guys are very bought into their routine and take great pride in how they attack every practice to be ready for game day.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Blazers continue to go through MAC play and are back in action on April 25, taking on the Lions of Albright College at Mount Saint Mary’s University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs a senior, I am just trying to enjoy every moment, and if we keep playing our brand of blazer baseball, I think we can keep playing deep into May,\u201d Scott-Daniels said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
