The Hood College choir is traveling to Rehoboth, Del. for their first stop on their tour for the 2013-2014 school year.<\/p>\n
Alex Helsabek, who sang with the choir when it performed last spring, invited it to perform later on at his home church, All Saint\u2019s Episcopal, in Rehoboth, Del. Helsabek sang with the choir when it performed Schubert\u2019s Mass in G last spring.<\/p>\n
Their first stop will be at the same church in Rehoboth, Del. on Oct. 19 and 20.<\/sup> Following that stop is still undecided, but the choir is hoping for similar opportunities throughout the year.<\/p>\n Kate Kopasek, a Hood College senior, sings in the soprano section and also serves as the president of the choir. She has been a member since freshman year.<\/p>\n \u201cOur goal is to have as many members travel as possible,\u201d said Kopasek, choir president who is a soprano. <\/b>She said she understands that members have other campus commitments, and not everyone will be able to go.<\/p>\n During practices, the choir works on, \u201cMaking all of the voices work together when there are more or less certain parts,\u201d Kopasek said. This way the choir as a whole can perform together, regardless of who is able to travel.<\/p>\n Choir member, Bianca Padilla is a senior who has been a member for two semesters, said, \u201cThis is a great way for students to become involved, especially if they like to travel.\u201d<\/p>\n The tour will give the choir a new experience to be able to travel. \u201cWhen we have such chances to take our choir to other places, we were able to showcase the talent here at Hood College,\u201d Kopasek said.<\/p>\n The Hood Choir as a whole expressed hope that the opportunity of going on tour will help them grow. \u201cI enjoy choir a lot and it\u2019s a great way to meet people,\u201d Padilla said.<\/p>\n The tour will also allow the choir to market to new members when they see that they do more than just singing on campus.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s always fun and an honor\u2014to represent Hood off-campus as well as outside the Frederick area,\u201d Kopasek said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
