A 6-foot, 4-inch guard from New Market, Maryland, No. 4, Garrison Linton, is a line that will forever be etched in history in the city of Frederick. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A hometown hero, a kid giving back to his community and a neighborhood favorite are all names associated with Linton. But now, Linton can be referred to as a pro basketball player. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout his four-year career at Hood College, Linton played in 100 games, making 996 points, 477 assists, and 83 three-point baskets while contributing to the college’s first MAC Championship. Linton also received numerous athletic awards, such as MAC First Team All-Conference and Blazer Athlete of the Year award. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These accolades and awards, along with Linton\u2019s work ethic and countless hours in the gym, landed Linton in a deal with the Frederick Flying Cows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt means a lot I know it’s not very common for especially D3 athletes to be able to play pro let alone right out of college so I’m extremely blessed,\u201d Linton said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Linton took part in multiple overseas combines and an NBA G-League tryout with the Dallas Mavericks, which bolstered his basketball resume, resulting in an opportunity with the Cows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cows, a member of the newly remodeled 94×50 league, is a place where Linton can build on his talents, in hopes of landing bigger contracts either overseas or in the NBA, which has been a dream of Linton’s since he first picked up a basketball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The good thing about this signing is not that it\u2019s Linton\u2019s first professional contract, but the fact that the Cows play right here at Hood College, Linton\u2019s old stomping ground. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt’s surreal for my family, friends, and myself,\u201d Linton said. \u201cBringing those two worlds together gives me a sense of comfort and familiarity and having my friends, old teammates, new teammates, all meet each other is really cool.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not only has Linton made an impact on the court, but Linton has also given back to the Frederick community by working for the Global Squad Basketball Academy, teaching kids basketball ranging from first grade to college.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Linton will play nine regular-season home games with the Cows, whose schedule can be found on goflyingcows.com. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
