Hood College hosted a campus event on March 4 honoring International Women\u2019s Day and recognizing women\u2019s achievements and contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event, organized by Amani Al-Dajane, the director of International Student Services, highlighted the purpose of International Women\u2019s Day and brought the campus community together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al-Dajane explained the event was, \u201cto honor the strength, resilience, and achievements of women across generations while reminding us of shared responsibility to continue advancing equity and opportunity.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added, “At Hood College, this event is about fostering dialogue, empowering one another, and strengthening the sense of sisterhood that helps our community thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reflecting on the significance of the day, she said, \u201cInternational Women\u2019s Day is a meaningful opportunity to recognize the contributions of women across cultures, professions, and generations. To me, it represents both celebration and reflection. It is a celebration of how far we have come in advancing opportunities for women, and at the same time, a reminder that there is still important work ahead to ensure equity and inclusion worldwide.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students received keepsakes such as pens and bracelets if they participated in the activities. One of the games was true and false, where students picked cards and volunteers determined whether the statement was correct, while also sharing fun facts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year\u2019s theme was \u201cGive to Gain,\u201d emphasizing the power of reciprocity and support. \u201cWhich is what sisterhood means to me,” Al-Dajane said. “It means solidarity, empowerment, and support. It is about women uplifting one another, creating spaces where voices are heard, and building rooted communities rather than competition. Especially within a college environment, sisterhood fosters membership, confidence, and a sense of belonging that can shape personal and professional growth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
