The Hood College women\u2019s volleyball team stormed back from two sets down to top Widener University 3\u20132 to clinch its first MAC playoff berth since 2015. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ann Ofoegbu powered the offense with a season-high 26 kills, while Maria Ricketts set the tone with 49 assists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cam Madden anchored the defense with 17 digs, and Skylar Plante added five blocks at the net to help complete the comeback. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Widener took the first two sets with quick offensive runs and scored late points. Hood appeared on the ropes but found life in the third set after trailing early. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A huge 12\u20131 run flipped momentum as the Blazers pulled ahead 16\u20139, then held off a Widener surge to take the set, 25\u201323. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The energy carried into the fourth, where Hood and Widener traded points before the Blazers closed on a 5\u20130 run sparked by another Ofoegbu kill to force a decisive fifth set. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After Hood built a 4\u20132 lead, Widener rallied to go ahead 7\u20135, but Anna Daley gave the Blazers a spark, scoring four of the team\u2019s next seven points for a 12\u201310 edge. Ofoegbu added another kill to bring match point, and when a Widener return floated out of bounds, the Blazers\u2019 bench erupted as the team sealed the win and a long-awaited postseason spot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
