South Mountain Creamery has closed its downtown Frederick storefront and is shifting focus to home delivery, wholesale expansion, and family-friendly experiences on the farm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe made the decision not to renew our lease in downtown Frederick so we can focus on expanding our home delivery and wholesale business,\u201d said Sophia Brusco, sales and marketing specialist at the family-owned dairy farm in Middletown. \u201cWe also want to create more family-friendly events and experiences at our farm in Middletown. This allows us to concentrate on what we do best: bringing farm-fresh products directly to more people.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local shops such as The Pop Shop and Swirls carry their ice cream, and more partnerships are being explored. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur Middletown farm is becoming the center of new and exciting experiences,\u201d Brusco said. \u201cCustomers can visit Karen\u2019s Kountry Store for ice cream and treats, join us for farm tours and calf feedings, and shop at our on-site market and ice cream store.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brusco emphasized that the transition strengthens the business\u2019s core operations while opening doors for future growth. Home delivery and wholesale distribution are expanding into multiple states, allowing the creamery to reach more households and communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While some Frederick residents may miss the convenience of the downtown storefront, the creamery hopes to keep its local ties strong through retail partnerships, events and social media updates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe view this as an exciting opportunity,\u201d Brusco said. \u201cClosing the Frederick shop allows us to strengthen our core business, focus on quality and bring our products to more people through delivery, wholesale and farm-based experiences.
