Director of Housing and Residence Life Michael Matos left Hood on Nov. 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students were notified of Matos\u2019 departure through an email from Dean of Students Demetrius Johnson on Nov. 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe all wish him well in his next endeavor,\u201d Johnson stated in the email. \u201cShould you need additional support from the Office of Housing and Residence Life, please contact Mrs. Taylor \u2018Amazing\u2019 Gist or Mr. LaShawn \u2018Wonderful\u2019 Taylor,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Matos began working at Hood in April 2024 and left just eight months later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his absence, the Office of Housing and Residence Life will continue to be run by Associate Director Lashawn Taylor and Associate Director of Administration and Operations Taylor Gist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c[Gist] and [Taylor] will continue working with students and resident assistants to ensure we have a robust residential program,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cStudents will not experience any interruption in service or care.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before coming to Hood, Matos worked at Fort Valley State University for five years, serving as associate director of Residence Life and Housing and Coordinator of Intramural Sports and Campus Recreation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Matos also worked at Florida Memorial University for one year as interim director of Residence Life and Residence Director and at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore for 10 years as director of Campus Recreation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is unclear whether Matos will be pursuing a new role at another institution following his recent departure from Hood.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
