Hood\u2019s Rotaract Club will help with the kids\u2019 table during this year\u2019s Oktoberfest to showcase that Oktoberfest isn\u2019t just for adults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oktoberfest will be held at the Frederick Fairgrounds Sept. 29 and Sept. 30 and offer music, food and German-themed crafts as well as beer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rotaract, which is affiliated with Rotary International, works to improve communities, said club president Travis Moulton, a Hood sophomore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the kids\u2019 table, youngsters will be able to make paper crafts including alpine hats, German hearts and masks, Moulton said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis year, we are just trying to create a very fun time for the children,\u201d Moulton said. \u201cYou know sometimes they [feel thrown] into this random event and we\u2019re hoping to create [a] space for both adults and children.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oktoberfest is just one way Rotaract helps the community. Moulton said the club is also helping clean up Carroll Creek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moulton encourages other students to join the club, which has been recruiting members through emails and flyers posted throughout the campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are a lot of moving parts that I\u2019m still trying to wrap my head around because it\u2019s a huge thing, but I feel like if you\u2019re really interested in participating within the community, start by joining a club,\u201d Moulton said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
