Hood\u2019s softball first baseman Jocelyn Pfleiger, who won Rookie of the Year last year, is again off to a hot start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sophomore from Quakertown, Pennsylvania, is batting .326 with seven home runs and slugging .605.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Currently, she is hitting second in the lineup for the Blazers even though last year she was batting fourth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a first-year student last year, Pfleiger won Rookie of the Year and put up phenomenal numbers, hitting .385 on the year with nine home runs and slugging .685.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although she is having another great year, Pfleiger said she doesn\u2019t pay much attention to the stats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI feel like stats do not define a player,\u201d Pfleiger said. She said she doesn\u2019t rely on her stats to dictate the kind of player she is because they can always change after a game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI look at it like this: did I barrel up the ball, did I have a good at-bat, but someone could have a hit and it\u2019s off the end of the bat,\u201d Plfeiger said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur sport is based on failure, and it always depends on the day,\u201d Pfleiger said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pfleiger said she tries to set aside her individual goals for the betterment of the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI try to hit the ball hard in the air because it gives my teammates the chance to tag up and score or get another base,\u201d Pfleiger said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
