Hood College held a memorial service on Wednesday, March 10, to mark the one-year anniversary of COVID-19 sending all Hood faculty, staff and students home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was a year ago this week that we went virtual,\u201d Rev. Beth O\u2019Malley said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The service was held at Coffman Chapel by Rev. Beth and music was provided by Lynn Staininger. This service was conceptualized as \u201ca recognition that this is a really unique time,\u201d O\u2019Malley said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus of the memorial was honoring those who have died in the past year, regardless of the cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many who have died in the last year were unable to spend their final moments with family due to the reality of COVID-19 and the separation from each other. The ceremony included saying the names of those who have died, which were submitted by loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The service was attended by only a handful of individuals and was live-streamed by Hood\u2019s marketing office. The service can be viewed on the Hood College\u2019s YouTube channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
