Athletic practices and training resumed Monday after being suspended for a week when another student athlete tested positive for the coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During this time, the athletic facilities will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized in order to ensure continued health within the department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAfter doing contract tracing on that student, we realized that five teams had players that were in contact with the athlete that tested positive,\u201d said athletic director Susan Kolb in an email sent to student-athletes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although only this one additional case has been reported so far, the decision was made out of an abundance of caution, specifically because of these exposure concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Chapdelaine also sent an email about the matter, explaining that this was the third student to test positive in the past two weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite this, Chapdelaine stated that the incidents were contained, and contact tracing and quarantine measures had been put into effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The affected student has returned home to quarantine. \u201cI\u2019m feeling okay, I just can\u2019t taste or smell much right now,\u201d said the student when asked about their experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
