Although community activities are restricted due to COVID-19, those seeking a movie experience have a local outdoor option. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In light of the pandemic, the Frederick Fairgrounds is hosting weekend drive-in movie showings (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), which will continue for the next few weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Price ranges from $25 to $35 per car, though capacity can\u2019t exceed eight people per vehicle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A variety of food and beverage options are being provided by local food trucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pop-up theater showcases both classic and current films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to night showings they also have matinees at earlier times, made possible by a high-resolution LED Screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe screen is roughly the size of two school buses,\u201d said Ashley Marie, the social media and marketing coordinator for the event . \u201cYou simply have to see it for yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not only is this a fun weekend activity, it also helps the Frederick community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have partnered with the Unity Campaign of Frederick. One dollar per ticket sold is going to help local non-profits right here in Frederick,\u201d Marie said. \u201cOur food, beer, even our merchandise has all been provided by local businesses. We are proud to be #FrederickStrong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is also an opportunity to bring the community back together in a safe way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI received a message from one mother who was able to enjoy the movies with her son, who is high-risk. Their joy makes it all worth it,\u201d Marie said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
