Stickers with anti-Black Lives Matter and white supremacy messages have been found on campus, according to an email sent by President Andrea Chapdelaine on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the email, Campus Safety reported finding two stickers on Tuesday, one from the organization Patriot Front, a white supremacy group, and the other an anti-Black Lives Matter message. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMessages of this kind has no place on this campus or in this community,\u201d Chapdelaine said. \u201cChief Maynard is reviewing security footage to see if he can ascertain when the stickers were placed and by whom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chadelaine said she filed a bias incident report. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen incidents like this occur, as a community we should name them, shed light on them, reaffirm our community values, and communicate so that these viewpoints will not be tolerated on the Hood campus,\u201d Chapdelaine said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Patriot Front posted the same stickers last year on various building signs on campus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senior Aliahya Speight said she feels the president is handling the situation well, but feels more needs to be done about the situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith Hood being such an open campus, it probably wasn\u2019t hard for whoever it was to put those stickers there,\u201d Speight said. \u201cI think the focus should be on people coming on and off campus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senior Ariel McConnell also praised Chapdelaine\u2019s email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPresident Chapdelaine is handling it as well as she can,\u201d McConnell said. \u201cI think informing everyone and letting us know what is currently being done about the situation is enough. Of course, we can\u2019t expect any more than that unless we know who exactly is doing these things.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chapdelaine said more details will be forthcoming if more information is found from security footage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
