These members visited the United Nations Headquarters and the Permanent Mission of Timor-Leste to the U.N.<\/p>\n<p>For student in Model U.N., they represent positions and values of an assigned country in which they also adhere to official protocols when speaking, negotiating and drafting resolutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hear about all these scary things going on all over the world and, though we don\u2019t always understand everything about them, we are quick to take very simplistic positions on very complex issues,\u201d said Marko Petric, President and Head Delegate of Model U.N.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is our job to represent the school and make a name for ourselves amongst the competition, so we prepare extensively for the conference,\u201d said Chad Allen, Vice-President of Model U.N.<\/p>\n<p>The members of Hood College\u2019s Model U.N. are Chad Allen (\u201817), Andela Golemac (\u201817), Abigail Jines (\u201818), Lydia Jines (\u201817), L\u00e9a Marot, Kyle Oakes (\u201816), Marko Petric (\u201816), Nailah Russell (\u201818), Tyler Shuck (\u201817), Sophie Smith (\u201818), Ivana Soce (\u201816) and Maja Tavra (\u201815).<\/p>\n<p>To stay up to date with their activities and to see photos from past events, like Model United Nations at Hood College on Facebook (facebook.com\/hoodcollegemun).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>In spring of 2015, 12 members of Model United Nations (Model UN) represented Timor-Leste (East Timor) at the National Model United Nations (NMUN-NY) in New York City.
