Join HCCS, SPARC, and the Office of Wellness in welcoming guest speaker Haylin Belay to campus for a workshop and Q&A that will help student demystify consent, offer practical tips for communication, and teach skills on setting and enforcing boundaries. The workshop will take place in Whitaker 220 on Thursday March 21, 2024, from 1-2 pm, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session.
Workshop description: What does the word “consent” actually mean? This workshop will demystify the history of this often misunderstood term, plus offer practical tips for practicing healthy sexual communication and enforcing sexual (and non-sexual) boundaries. Join us for a queer-inclusive, trauma-informed exploration of what it means to create a consent culture – and have better sex – starting with our own loved ones and communities.
Speaker bio: Haylin Belay is a comprehensive sex educator and psychoeducation professional with expertise in reproductive justice and trauma-informed practice. With over a decade of hands-on experience developing award-winning health education programming from an interdisciplinary and intersectional framework, her mission is to teach people of all ages practical skills for a healthier, more pleasurable life.
