Hood College’s Blazer Radio is looking for candidates to produce new shows.
Sign-up sheets are available on the third floor of Rosenstock Hall.
Students have produced a variety of programs on Blazer Radio, including sports podcasts, music performances and talk shows. Time slots can be reserved to air proposed programs. Once a reservation is made, the show will be promoted on social media and during morning announcements. If a host cannot make a scheduled time slot, Blazer Radio allows students to prerecord their shows.
Flyers promoting Blazer Radio will be placed around campus in high-traffic areas, including the library and Whitaker Commons. No radio experience is required to join.
“Come up and try it out,” said Tim Jacobsen, a Hood College professor and head of Blazer Radio. “Come up and propose a show, and if it’s something you want to do, take that step.”
Participation numbers in Blazer Radio have remained steady. Jacobsen said students tend to be busier with class schedules than in the past, making it more difficult to participate.
Blazer Radio is a student-run station at Hood College with a variety of programs. Morning announcements air at 9:15 a.m. every Monday.
