The men’s soccer team lost back-to-back contests before securing a 2-1 victory over Wilkes University on Sept. 20 at Thomas Athletic Field.
On Sept. 10, the Blazers struck first against Marymount University when Terrell Funchess scored his first career goal in the opening minute. James Knowlton added his second goal of the season in the second half, with Chino Delgado contributing two assists.
But Marymount answered with three first-half goals, including two off set pieces, and held on for a 3-1 win. Goalkeeper Jonah Erb finished with five saves.
Three days later, Hood fell 2-1 to DeSales University. After the Bulldogs opened scoring, Timmy Hill netted his first collegiate goal in the second half to draw level. DeSales regained the lead with less than five minutes remaining, despite six saves from goalkeeper Adam Labows.
The Blazers broke through on Sept. 20, defeating Wilkes 2-1. Funchess scored his second goal of the season off a free kick, and Jonathan Fuentes added his first of the year. Zeth Zambrano and Cristian Topovich had assists, while Labows made two saves.
Hood moved to 1-2 in September play, with conference competition ahead.
