The Hood College women’s volleyball team went winless in a four-match stretch in mid-September, including a five-set battle with Marymount University.
The Blazers opened with a 3-0 loss at Gallaudet University on Sept. 10. Cam Madden had four kills and nine digs, while Maria Ricketts added nine assists in the defeat.
At home on Sept. 12, Hood fell 3-0 to Lancaster Bible College. Ann Ofoegbu led with 11 kills, and Ricketts finished with 25 assists and 12 digs.
The Blazers competed in a tri-match on Sept. 14, taking Marymount to five sets before dropping a 3-2 decision. Ofoegbu paced Hood with 25 kills, 23 digs and six aces across the day, while Ricketts totaled 51 assists, including 35 against the Saints. After leading 2-1 in sets, Hood fell 25-23 in the fourth before Marymount closed the fifth 15-9.
Later that day, Hood fell 3-1 to St. Mary’s (Md.). The Blazers extended the match with a third-set win before the Seahawks secured the fourth.
Hood went 0-4 during the run but showed progress with extended rallies against Marymount and St. Mary’s. Ofoegbu emerged as the offensive leader, averaging more than four kills per set.
