The men’s basketball team wrapped up its 2024-2025 season with an 85-69 loss against York College in the semifinals of the MAC championship playoffs on Feb. 26.

The Blazers finished the season with a 16-10 overall record, third in the Middle Atlantic Conference standings.

In the game against York, Hood jumped out to an 8-0 lead, with help from a 3-pointer from Garrett Cox.

But the York Spartans quickly responded with their own perimeter shooting. York’s size and defensive pressure forced the Blazers into early shot-clock decisions, leading to turnovers and extra possessions for their opponent.

York took control late in the first half, with Pat Gilhool’s t3-pointer extending their lead to eight.

Despite Garrison Linton’s aggressive drives and Cox’s rebounding presence, the Blazers struggled to contain York’s offensive rhythm. Fast-break plays and key defensive stops momentarily cut the deficit, but York effectively managed the clock in the final minutes, securing an 85-69 victory.

After the game, head coach Chad Dickman reflected on the team’s effort, acknowledging the sacrifices of the seniors and the disappointment of missing a historic championship.

“Really tough loss tonight,” he said. “I feel bad for our seniors that played their last game in a Blazer uniform. They were huge reasons why our program is where it is right now, and they were only one win away from being the all-time winningest class in school history.”

The Blazers’ 16-10 record was built on a mix of offensive firepower and defensive resilience.

Linton, a standout performer, recorded multiple double-doubles, while Kullen Robinson and Cox provided crucial scoring and rebounding support.

One of the season’s defining moments came on Feb. 18, when Hood secured a hard-fought victory over Alvernia. In that contest, Linton led the charge with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists, while Robinson added 20 points and eight rebounds.

The Blazers’ relentless offensive attack and trapping defense limited Alvernia’s opportunities. A last-second 3-pointer by Cox sealed the win and a playoff berth for the Blazers.

Although the season ended in the conference semifinals, the Blazers’ third-place finish in the MAC standings showcased their growth and competitiveness.
