Hood’s women’s golf team is back for the 2024 season after finishing in eighth place in the MAC championships last year.

On Sept. 7, the Blazers opened their fall season at the Chinatown/Shenandoah University Invitational in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, finishing sixth.

Among the top performers of the match, Hood senior Mary Emma Guldi finished 10th in the entire competition, shooting a 163.

“I am feeling optimistic and excited for our season this year,” senior golfer Katie Driscoll said. “We have had one incoming freshman with lots of returners and, as a team, we are improving and are getting closer to the top at MACs.”

The Blazers accumulated some low-place finishes last season but have fought hard through the summer and fall to improve on all aspects of their game.

“As a team, we are all working on our ability to stay mentally focused throughout our rounds and be able to have better course management,” Driscoll said.

The Blazers are ready to take on the MACs this year for a chance to end up on top.

“Our team is really looking forward to seeing what we are capable of at MACs this year,” Driscoll said.

With half of the team being seniors, women’s golf is looking to make this year their best year.

“As one of the four seniors on the team, I am excited to make my final year count,” Driscoll said.
