Ann Ofoegbu is the heart and soul of the Blazer women’s volleyball team.

The junior from Falling Waters, West Virginia, is an opponent’s worst nightmare.

Ofoegbu is ranked eighth in Hood history with 592 kills on offense and still has another year and a half left in her career.

The junior also excels on the defensive side of the court by ranking 15th in Hood history with 71 career total blocks.

The Hood volleyball team has not had a winning season during Ofoegbu’s time on the team, but she is not discouraged.

“Our imperfections motivate us to push further and become better athletes and individuals,” Ofoegbu said.

Ofoegbu has accomplished a lot on the court and racked up many great memories, but none come close to her first interactions with her teammates during her freshman year.

“Meeting my team my first year and having a little family is one of my favorite memories at Hood so far in my career,” Ofoegbu said.

Ofoegbu is a tough competitor when on the court yet always looks for ways to improve her game.

One thing the junior outside hitter struggles with is the number of errors she commits during a game.

Errors are caused in numerous ways in volleyball, but Ofoegbu’s errors come on the offensive side of the ball.

Ofoegbu has accumulated 333 errors in her career thus far.

“If I were able to change one thing about my career, it would have to be my hitting percentage,” Ofoegbu said. “Although errors are inevitable, I wish I could decrease them by a little to increase that percentage.”

Ofoegbu is a team leader on the court and a mentor to many of the underclass players.

“One piece of advice I would give to an incoming freshman is to take in every moment whether it be good, bad, difficult, or exciting because your collegiate career goes by faster than you think,” Ofoegbu said.
