Women’s basketball team ends season with record

As the season ends, women’s basketball shifts its attention toward rebuilding. 

The Blazers finished the year with an overall record of 4-21 and a record of 3-11 in the Middle Atlantic Conference.  

The team had a tough season matching their 4-21 record from the 2022-23 season. The Blazers went 6-20 with a 2-14 record in conference play during the 2021-22 season. 

Top scorers Chanelle Lee, Tiffany Manning and Na’Vaye Quarles led the team this season. 

“It was a long season and didn’t end the way we wanted it to, but it prepared us for what’s to come,” Quarles said. 

“I had high hopes for the season, but ultimately we underperformed,” Manning added. “We were way better than our record showed, but I think we laid a good foundation for the program in the years to come.” 

Paving the way, these three players were key pieces in the Blazers’ efforts at success, along with their new head coach DéRonté Polite who started with the team last fall.

The team is looking forward to the off-season and next winter. Players are hoping to improve on the struggles that have been stuck with the team for multiple years now. 

“The season didn’t end how we wanted it to, but if I’m being honest I feel like this year was a test to see how much of a relationship we can build on and off the court,” senior Nikki Etchison said. “I can say we stuck together through it all and fought until the end.”
