A former member of the Misericordia University women’s soccer team has been hired as Hood’s athletic trainer.
The new hire, Jordyn Martini, received her undergraduate degree in exercise science from Misericordia and her master’s degree in athletic training from the University of Delaware.
“My experience has been good so far,” Martini said. “I went to Misericordia for my undergrad, so it was similar to Hood in regard to the small school style.”
Martini’s interest in becoming an athletic trainer was inspired by her athletic background. “I played soccer at Misericordia, and just being around sports in general I had my fair share of injuries, which is what sparked my interest,” she said. “I knew I wanted to do something medical-related, and being paired with athletics was great.”
Martini was a member of the Misericordia University women’s soccer team for five seasons and was an All-Conference, All-Region and All-American player during her time at the school.
Away from work, Martini enjoys running and has completed multiple half-marathons. She also enjoys reading, and when home in Ocean City, New Jersey, she enjoys surfing and being out on the beach.
