Admissions team displacement finally ends

By Rachel Kucharski

The Hood College admissions team has been on the move.

The team was displaced from Strawn Cottage after a pipe burst in 2023 from the freezing weather. The admission counselors and director of admissions, Nikki Bamonti, were relocated from Strawn Cottage to the basement of Rosenstock Hall.

When Memorial Hall shut down for remodeling, students were moved into the admission house for additional housing. This caused the staff to move to the fourth floor of the library, with the student workers located on the first floor.

“The library workers and staff were very welcoming,” admissions intern Jake Wantz said. Hood College admission staff and faculty are moving back into the admissions house to use it specifically for office space while the visitor team will be staying in the library.

Bamonti is making the most out of this situation because having the visitor staff located in the library allows prospective students to be welcomed by more than just the people in the admissions. Additionally, they get to see more of the campus quickly.

“It has been a wonderful change, sort of the lemonade we made out of the lemons, because students and families loved seeing the library,” Bamonti said.
