Holiday shopping as a college student can be tough when you’re trying to ball on a budget.
Finding gifts can also be a hassle when you don’t know what the person wants and where to look.
Before you leave campus for winter break, a great place to start looking for holiday gifts is downtown Frederick. Some stores in downtown Frederick offer student discounts to Hood students—simply show your student ID at checkout.
When choosing a gift for someone, it can be difficult to decide what to give them. When in doubt, socks can be a great gift, especially for the cold winter months that we will soon experience. This is where Retro Metro can help you.
Retro Metro has a huge collection of men’s and women’s socks that are all unique. Most of them have funny messages and contain mature themes.
There’s a pair of socks for Grandma that reads “This Grandma has seen some *crap*” with funky colors.
There’s a pair of socks for mothers that reads “I love my *butthole* kids” with flowers and vine design.
There’s a pair of socks for boyfriends that reads “Pretty decent boyfriend” designed with stripes of yellow, white, blue, and brown.
The women’s socks cost $11.95, and the men’s socks cost $13.95.
If socks are too basic of a gift, maybe a Maryland-themed lunch bag is better.
This lunch bag is covered in the Old Bay logo. It’s the perfect gift for a person who loves Maryland and the Old Bay seasoning that’s famous in Maryland. The lunch bag costs $15.95.
Retro Metro is not only limited to socks and bags. True to its slogan, “A bit of everything for everyone,”it has the perfect random selection of unique small, thoughtful gifts that you could give to your family or friends.
If socks and bags aren’t an option that you’d be interested in, maybe try bath and body products from Crème de la Crème.
If you know someone who’s into scents and natural ingredients in soaps, this would be the store to look into.
Crème de la Crème sells Mistral Soap, a French soap brand. One specific item the store offers is called Silver Absinthe, an extra-rich body wash for men. The scent from this product is amazingly natural and not overwhelming compared to other scents for men.
The scent is strong and everlasting. A small amount of this product is all you need and could last for months. The scent is something that you could not get tired of. This body wash is $28.
There are also natural scents like lavender and dahlia that Crème de la Crème offers. These soap bars are wrapped in various colors of marble-styled paper. Specifically, the lavender Mistral soap bar is $12.
If a full bar of soap is too much of a commitment, Crème de la Creme offers miniature versions of the soap bars of the same scents for $5.
Another shop downtown called Sky’s the Limit is more on the expensive side, but it still has options for those looking for inexpensive gifts.
There are perfume roller bottles that have a combination of multiple different scents that anyone would love. The perfume roller bottles are each $12.
The store also has Guatemalan coin pouches offered in both large and small sizes. Each coin pouch has its own specific design. The bonus is that the coin pouches were also made in Guatemala.
The small coin pouch is around $4.95, and the large coin is $5.95.
Downtown Frederick is full of unique shops that you can visit to help search for an inexpensive Christmas gift.
Happy shopping.
