Hood College is offering a financial literacy workshop titled Adulting 101: Money & Financial Fortitude starting on March 1.
To offer the workshop, Hood College is partnering with the University of Maryland Extension office, located in Frederick County. The workshop consists of six classes, and will be led by Carrie Sorenson, a certified financial planner.
The six-week course guides students on understanding money and values, tracking spending, saving, paying for major purchases, credit scores and more.
The course was organized to help students grow confident with their financial responsibility. Twenty students signed up on the first day of registration.
“I think a financial literacy topic would make for an interesting first-year seminar course,” Amanda Dymek, director of wellness, said. “There is obviously a lot of interest and a class like this would help prepare incoming students to be good financial stewards.”
Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 5-6 p.m. in Whitaker Room 220. A registration link is available via Pergola Connect.
For more information, students can email Amanda Dymek at rzepkowski@hood.edu.
