Ask BeeGee: How to pick the perfect Halloween costume

By Maddie Garvis//

Oh look! October is already half over, and you forgot to think about a Halloween costume for the fourth year in a row. But never fear! BeeGee is here!

There’s always the classic buying a onesie at your local Walmart. Whether it be a unicorn, a Disney character, or even your friendly neighborhood Spiderman, onesies are a costume option that’s cheap, easy, comfy as hell, and easy to collaborate with all your friends.

Then there’s the good ol’ costume-in-a-bag from Spirit Halloween. This option is typically a little pricier, but usually offers more on-trend costumes.

There are the perennially popular choices like Harley Quinn, Pennywise, and basically any superhero, plus the trends from this year like players from Netflix-hit Squid Game, characters from Among Us, and even Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala outfit (I’m still not totally convinced that was actually her under the mask, but that’s beside the point).

A third option is to try your hand at a DIY costume. This often requires more effort and time than a store-bought costume but can be more cost-effective for those ballin’ on a budget this Halloween. Try using things already in your closet to put a costume together.

Throw on a red shirt and pants and buy a cheap devil horns headband. Instant devil costume. Grab your brown pants and green shirt and you’re Shaggy from Scooby-Doo. Wear a pink dress and glue bunny ears to a headband. Now you’re a bunny. It really is that easy.

Don’t worry too much about a costume, you’ll figure something out. If all else fails, wear a white shirt and tape black construction paper circles to it, call yourself a domino. It worked for Jim on the Office, and who doesn’t love John Krasinski?
