Repairs to Brodbeck Music Hall will likely be finished by 2023, according to Vice President for Marketing and Communications Laurie Ward.
On Sept. 9, lightning struck the building’s cupola setting a fire that extensively damaged the third floor.
The college’s insurance policy will pay for the damages to the building, and Hood is in the beginning stages of working with architects and conservators to plan repairs.
In the meantime, offices, rehearsals and music lessons have been moved to the Chapel.
“We are grateful that there were no injuries and that the damage to the building and its contents were not more extensive. I think I speak for everyone on campus when I say that I can’t wait for the first performance in Brodbeck,” Ward said.
