Maxwell’s is a fast-gourmet restaurant serving various type of burgers, fries, and milkshakes in the heart of downtown Frederick. Maxwell’s focus is on providing affordable gourmet burgers made from locally sourced, high-quality ingredients. Although its business is mainly carryout, Maxwell’s does have an option to eat-in, where you’ll find a friendly atmosphere and walls covered with local artwork for sale.
Maxwell’s also has options for those who prefer an alternative type of burger, with the option of swapping out Angus beef for Wagyu beef, tuna, beet, or a vegetarian-friendly Impossible meat. I went with the build-your-own-burger option and decided on a classic Angus beef burger on a brioche roll with smoked cheddar cheese, lettuce, pickles, crispy shallots, and their house-made Max sauce. The $13.75 price of the build-your-own-burger comes with your choice of fries, sweet potato fries, or a side salad and I chose the regular fries. The burger was perfectly medium rare and delicious as was the house-made brioche bun and I’m a huge fan of the fries, particularly dipped in the Max sauce. I also really liked the crispy shallots, which is a burger topping I’ve never tried. I also ordered a caramel mocha milkshake, which was quite possibly the best milkshake I have ever had.
We were able to scan a QR code on our phones and order food and drinks right from our table which was very convenient. And although we didn’t order through our server, he was very friendly and was happy to answer the questions we had about the menu. We got our food very soon after ordering and overall had a great time at Maxwell’s. Eating at Maxwell’s was a wonderful experience start to finish and I can’t wait to go back.
