Weekend Round-Up: Week 4 of spring sports

Baseball: The Hood baseball team went 1-4 this weekend against the Falcons of Messiah University. The Blazers won the first game of the weekend 5-3. Junior Nick Rampone scored two runs and first-year Alex Jenkins collected two RBI’s. Grad student Jordan Patterson threw a complete game in Hood’s win on Saturday with 10 strikeouts.

Softball: The Hood softball team lost two games this weekend to Widener University. Junior Angela Acampora scored the lone run in game one with a home run to left center field. She also had the lone RBI in game two, hitting a single to send junior Brandi Davidson home. The softball team is now 5-9 on the season.

Men’s swimming: The Hood men’s swim team defeated Lycoming College by a score of 94-73 on Friday. Juniors Brooks Anderson and Andrew Bezman both had an individual event win and sophomore Hazen Stowell had two. Bezman also won a relay with sophomore Patrick Krol, sophomore Russell Odor and senior Cameron King. This win takes Hood to 2-1 on the season.

Women’s swimming: The women’s swim team at Hood was defeated by Lycoming College this weekend by a score of 88-59. First-year Kaila Tom, sophomore Molly Cronin and sophomore Grace Winpigler all picked up individual wins, but it wasn’t enough to boost the Blazers past the Warriors.

Men’s lacrosse: The Hood men’s lacrosse team defeated the Devils of FDU-Florham this weekend by a score of 14-5. Senior Bentley LeBarron and first-year Colby Gallagher each had a hat trick in Saturday’s victory. LeBarron also had two assists. The Blazer defense held a clean sheet in the first half of the competition going into halftime up 5-0. The Blazers are now 2-2 on the season.

Women’s lacrosse: The Hood women’s lacrosse team lost their fifth straight game after starting the season 2-0. Despite first-years MacKenzi Wright and Liz Connelly’s four combined goals, the Blazers lost 21-6 on Saturday. Junior Laura Skorobatsch and senior Cassidy O’Neill also scored for the Blazers and senior Tenley Reeder had one assist.
