Hood updates visitation policy

Residence Life has updated the visitation policy for Hood students, according to an email sent on Nov. 3.

Students living on campus will now be able to visit other residence halls with two guests allowed in a room.

“Visitors must always have their ID on them and provide it to Residence Life if asked,” Assistant director for Residential education and Assessment LaShawn Taylor said.

Students will still be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing and students are encouraged to use the lounges and kitchen areas if they would like to have more than two guests in the building.

“If at any point one roommate is no longer comfortable with having a guest in the room, the 51% rule applies and guests are no longer allowed in that space,” Taylor said. “If residents would like to update their roommate contract, they should reach out to their RA.”

This policy has not been updated since Sept. 24 due to COVID-19-related setbacks.

Prior to this update, students were only able to visit students who lived in the same residence hall.

Commuter students and anyone living off-campus is still not permitted to visit any residence halls.

“Students can visit these individuals in Whitaker Campus Center and outside lounging spaces,” Taylor said.
