A first-year men’s lacrosse player at Hood College received the Bob Scott award for his leadership and work ethic upon his arrival at Hood.

Logan Rhoads recieved a call from his high school lacrosse coach during his first week at Hood. His coach told him that he had been recognized for his hard work and dedication to his school, team, and community.

The Bob Scott award is given out to one senior lacrosse player in every region of the country. According to U.S. Lacrosse, the Bob Scott award recognizes outstanding character, good sportsmanship, and a high level of academic success.

“He’s the nicest kid you’ll ever meet,” said Hood teammate, Lucas Webb.

When Rhoads received the call, he got chills. It meant a lot to him and showed that hard work pays off.

Rhoads was in a group in high school called Peer Leaders. This was an after-school organization focused on leadership skills. Rhoads was nominated for this group by his teachers freshman year.

Rhoads, who plays defense, does just as much on the field as he does off the field. In high school he received second-team all-conference for two consecutive years.

“He’s a freak of nature athlete,” Webb said.

Rhoads went to Cherokee high school in Marlton, New Jersey and played for the Tri-state lacrosse club.

At Hood, Rhoads hopes to continue pursuing a selfless mentality and strong work ethic.

“I plan to keep a positive attitude, help make my peers better in the classroom and on the field,” Rhoads said.

Rhoads expects to do big things on and off the lacrosse field at the college level. With his teammates behind him, it’s no secret he will.
