Hood College’s director of Residence Life and Student Conduct, Matt Troutman, has announced he is leaving the college.
Troutman has worked at Hood for five years, and has spent the last three years studying in the College’s accelerated doctoral program in Organizational Leadership. As he worked as a student affairs educator, he also attended weekend classes every fall, spring and summer sessions.
“Now having finished my coursework, I depart my position to be able to focus on completing my dissertation,” Troutman said.
Olivia White, vice president for Student Life and Dean of Students said Troutman sets an example for others.
“I’m excited for him because at some point in time, in investing as he is doing in himself, this is what I think we want students to do too,” White said.
Under Troutman’s tenure, a residential curriculum two-year pilot program was developed and administrated, housing assignment forms and processes were modernized from paper to digital, the reputation of resident assistants was increased, and diversity and the involvement of administration ensuring the value of all students was progressively displayed.
Not only did Troutman work in Residence Life, but he also worked with admissions, the Wellness Center, and Campus Safety. He produced institutional research where he worked and supported many programs.
“He was instrumental in many contributions to the many programs and committees that he served on,” White said.
“My message to the Hood College community is thank you for the experiences,” Troutman said.
