The Presidential Search Committee and the Board of Trustees announced on Monday that Dr. Andrea E. Chapdelaine has been selected to become the next president at Hood.

On Feb. 3, Dr. Andrea E. Chapdelaine met with students. She currently resides as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Albright College.

Chapdelaine believes that the Hood community can help students reach their full potential through the support that a community provides. The individual approach and the history of Hood help the community to stay and grow strong which is what initially attracted her to Hood.

Addressing problems and making important decisions must be accomplished by completely assessing the situation as discussed by Chapdelaine. She believes that you have to think about the impact and information and rely on previous experiences to help.

Student interaction is an essential part of the community for Chapdelaine so she provides office hours, dinners, and other various social gathering. Her leadership style differs from situation to situation, responding to each specific one.

To complete her vision Chapdelaine wants student input and clarify goals of the college such as enrollment. This is to be accomplished while helping students afford school by providing resources and support to those who need it.

Chapdelaine wants to be involved with the students of Hood. When to activities she is counting on the students to tell her when they want her to be there.  She is a big fan of sports and sees them as a benefit to the overall success of Hood.

The issue of diversity needs to be addressed through education according to Chapdelaine, “Issues like that can’t bubble under the surface.”
