Fall marks the start of many things happening in Frederick: a new school year, a change in weather and of course, new fashion trends. Yet, let’s face it – as college students, most of us prefer to stroll around campus in our sweats and hoodies. Honestly, when life revolves around making it to class on time, who really feels compelled to dress their best?

According to Style.com, the gods of style have spoken, and the fashion trends for fall 2014 have been announced. Coincidently, these trends are easy enough to follow and incorporate into daily outfits ultimately taking the stress out of styling but keeping us trendy.

Nothing screams fall quite like a cozy sweater; that’s why Style.com declared sweaters as hot item to stock up on this season. Wear it slouchy, slim fitting, or even with sweats. However if you wear it, it’s going to look amazing and keep you warm for those unexpected gusts of wind!

Surprise, surprise – neon colors are an absolute must for fall. Take for example, Dior’s eye popping pink and green dress, Balmain’s sleek purple pant suit complete with leopard print, orange and neon yellow accents and last, but not least, Balenciaga’s olive military jacket decorated with electric purple sleeves and pockets. Add a splash of vibrant, neon colors to any fall outfit and you’re good to go.

Normcore is what’s up. We’re referring to matching pant suits and outfits made up of one color with especially dark colors. This is a perfect trend for those of you with internships, dress modestly, and keep your entire outfit consistent in color. This trend is simple and to the point. Wouldn’t it be nice if everything about college was that easy?

So there you have it, throw on a sweater, add some crazy, bright colors or keep it traditional with Normcore. Whatever you decide you’re following the hottest trends of fall 2014 and hopefully, keeping it cozy enough for those classes you just know you’re going to sleep in.
