Club Spotlight: Best Buddies and Ping Pong Club

By Ray Rivera

Best Buddies is a community outreach service organization at Hood for members that focus on taking time out of their day to make someone else’s day better.

This organization is affiliated with the National Best Buddies Organization and works with individuals of physical and intellectual disabilities to create one on one friendships between the student and their buddy.

“I’ve been involved since my 1st year and I really enjoy getting to know and making friends with all kinds of individuals and all the memories and friendships that I gain from this experience,” the current president, junior Bianca Padilla, said.

Most events are held on campus or at the Francis Scott Key Center that is located up Rosemont Ave. near Ft.Detrick. There are monthly events with one event coming up this month.

Students who want to get involved should contact Padilla at bp7@hood.edu

The Hood Ping Pong Club functions as a fun interactive social organization on campus.

This organization promotes friendly competition and healthy sportsmanship as players compete against each other on the tables.

Current President, junior Christopher Mahone, hopes to assemble a group of players within the Ping Pong Club to create a team that can challenge the Ping Pong Clubs of other nearby schools.

Meetings are held in Whitaker Campus Commons in the pit by the Ping Pong Tables weekly Thursday nights at 7.

To come out and play, contact Mahone crm10@hood.edu
