Hood College women’s volleyball looks to repeat its MAC playoff berth from last season while adjusting to major changes.

Hood College women’s volleyball returns to the court following an 8-20 season in 2025 and a postseason loss to Eastern University. Led by new interim head coach Jason Lewis, the Blazers welcome nine incoming first-year and transfer students to the program.

The Blazers welcome interim head coach Jason Lewis, who previously served as the assistant coach for Hood College men’s volleyball. Lewis is optimistic about what he has seen from the team during preseason.

“It is our expectation to repeat a playoff appearance, however that may look,” Lewis said. “I do want an emphasis to be on our team’s recognition and image this season. We are an upbeat, positive and attentive team. You’ll feel it as we compete.”

With the introduction of the new team members, the Blazers have a 21-member roster.

“I’m impressed with the returning and incoming ability. Practice is a very healthy, competitive environment,” Lewis said.

Junior setter and captain Maria Ricketts shared her thoughts on adjusting to a new head coach and what to look forward to this season.

“When I first learned of our search for a new coach, I was excited for the opportunity a new coach could bring,” Ricketts said. “Coach Jason motivates us to have intrinsic belief and self-accountability; we learn how to interpret corrections and feel comfortable in our ability to make decisions based on what we see.”

Ricketts believes the team has the potential to exceed what it achieved the previous year.

Hood College women’s volleyball returns to Woodsboro Bank Arena to face Neumann University on Sept. 15.
