Hood College men’s basketball ended its historic season Saturday in the Sweet 16 with an 88-71 loss to No. 1 Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.
The Blazers had a slow start, allowing the Bantams to go on a 12-0 run early in the first half. The offense never got going, and Hood trailed Trinity 46-35 at halftime.
Hood continued to struggle against Bantams’ third-ranked defense, although a 10-point run early in the second half brought the Blazers to within striking distance. The Blazers trailed 57-47 with 12 minutes remaining in the game, but came no closer.
Junior guard Jevon Yarbrough led the team with 28 points, and graduate forward Garrett Cox added 16.
The Blazers finished the season 26-4, winning the MACC championship and making school history with the Sweet 16 appearance.
