By Kylie Lancaster//
Hello! My name is Kylie Lancaster, and I have had the privilege of serving as Editor-in-Chief of The Blue and Grey during the fall 2025 semester. Previously, I co-edited the publication with my colleague Audrey Ze during the spring 2025 semester. This role has taught me so much and has connected me to the Hood College community in ways for which I’ll always be grateful.
In our fourth edition, you’ll find news stories, sports recaps, athlete features, opinion pieces, and coverage of club events from throughout the semester. We’ve also introduced activities such as crossword puzzles and word searches to give students a fun way to decompress between classes and assignments.
Being an editor for a print publication comes with its challenges, but few things are more rewarding than holding the finished product of our team’s hard work and dedication. That said, The Blue and Grey is created for you, the students, faculty, and staff of Hood College.
As we reach the halfway point of the semester and publish our fourth of six issues, I’d like to invite feedback from our readers on what content you’ve enjoyed and what you’d like to see in future editions.
Our staff publishes a new issue every two weeks and sends the final copy to the printer about five days before distribution. Because of this schedule, some stories don’t make it into print, but they’re always available on our website.
If you have story ideas, questions, or feedback, please reach out to theblueandgrey@hood.edu, or contact me directly at kjl11@hood.edu.
Finally, I want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who has shared information and spoken with us so far this semester. Your support and collaboration make our work as student journalists possible.
I hope you enjoy this issue of The Blue and Grey, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas for future coverage. Thank you for reading and supporting student journalism at Hood College.
