The Hood College women’s basketball team is finishing its season with a 6–15 overall record and a 2–8 record in conference play.
The team scored 1,155 points throughout the season, and averaged 55 points per game. The Blazers allowed opponents an average of 61.9 points per game. The Blazers shot 36.4% from the field, whereas their opponents had a slightly better percentage at 37.5%.
Despite offensive challenges, the team excelled in rebounding, and secured 823 total rebounds, which averaged 39.2 per game. This exceeded their opponents’ average of 38.2 rebounds per game.
However, turnovers proved costly, with the team having committed 441 turnovers compared to opponents’ 360 turnovers.
A key player this season was Chanelle Lee, who played in 21 games and averaged 28.9 minutes per game. She led the team with 98 field goals, 266 total rebounds, and averaged 12.7 rebounds per game. Lee also contributed 55 free throws and 43 assists.
Like Lee, freshman Aliyah Taylor also played in 21 games and logged 28.1 minutes per game. She added 61 field goals and 2 three-pointers to the team’s offense.
Kourtney Johnson, another key asset to the team, appeared in 20 games and shot 46.7% from the field. She secured 175 total rebounds and 49 assists.
With four conference games remaining, the team aims to refine offensive strategies, improve shooting efficiency, and minimize turnovers.
