Women’s basketball player Chanelle Lee surpassed the 1,000-point mark in her college basketball career in the team’s opening game on Nov. 9.

“Getting the 1,000-point accolade feels unreal and exciting,” Lee said. “This was a goal that I set three years ago, and I accomplished it.” She continued, “This accomplishment doesn’t happen to many basketball athletes, so being able to accomplish this means a lot to me, and It just shows that my hard work has paid off.”

Lee, who is from Brunswick, Maryland, has devoted almost her whole life to the game of basketball.

From growing up learning how to dribble a ball to playing in high school, to committing and playing two years at Division 2 Penn State Lehigh Valley and finally ending her college career with two years at Hood College, Lee has loved every moment.

“My most special moment of my basketball career is being named 2023 USCAA Player of the Year,” Lee said. On top of that, Lee was named to first team All American and received a National All-Academic award that same season.

Lee joins the Hood record book as just the 10th  player in women’s basketball history to accomplish the 1,000-point mark.

“It’s an honor to be a part of Hood history as one of the few players to reach the 1,000-point mark, it means I’ve made a lasting impact that will be remembered long after my time here,” Lee said.

Over her two-year career at Hood, Lee has averaged 16.1 points per game, 8.2 rebounds per game and 32.4 minutes per game. Lee has currently totaled 229 rebounds, 450 points and logged 907 minutes throughout her two years.

Lee said she is very grateful for all the people who have helped her achieve this monumental moment in her career.

“My family, college coaches, and teammates have played a huge part,” she said. “I could have never accomplished this without their support and encouragement along the way.”
