Financial aid office celebrates Constitution Day

On Sept. 17, the Financial Aid Office held a trivia contest for students to test their knowledge on the U.S. Constitution. All participants were then entered into a drawing for a bag of Hood swag, including a blanket, travel mug, chip clips and other items.

This year’s winner was senior and ROTC student Naya Perez. 

Why is Constitution Day important? Constitution Day and Citizenship Day is an American federal observance recognizing the adoption of the U.S. Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens by birth or naturalization. It is normally observed on Sept. 17, the day the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution in 1787 in Philadelphia. 

Under the statutory requirement, any postsecondary institution receiving federal funds must hold an educational program pertaining to the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17 of each year.
