A senior helped Hood College capture the MAC Championship on April 23.

The golfer, Will Kujawa, is one of three seniors on the men’s team and one of the five players to compete in the championship tournament. He compiled a score of 158 through 36 holes to claim a four-way tie for 10th place and earn Second Team all-MAC Commonwealth accolades.

Kujawa has been a part of the men’s golf team all four years he has been enrolled at Hood. He found Hood through former head coach Chad Dickman, who sold him on the school while recruiting him at the same time.

When Kujawa stepped on campus during his freshman year he only had a few years of golf under his belt and was ready for the next step in his life.

“My most memorable moment from my freshman year of golf was meeting all of the guys and my first time playing at PB Dye. I was a mixture of horrified and excited with how difficult yet beautiful our golf course is, and I was excited for the relationships I would be able to build with the guys,” Kujawa said.

During his time at Hood, Kujawa’s game has only gotten better. He has added 30 to 40 yards in distance to all his clubs and has tightened up his short game.

In addition to all of this, Kujawa has also gotten mentally stronger since beginning his first year of college golf.

“In the past, I would make mistakes and shut down. Now, when I make mistakes, I let myself walk to the next shot thinking about what happened and how to fix it, then when I am actually getting ready for the next shot, I let it go,” Kujawa said.

Kujawa will be graduating from Hood with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in human resources. Kujawa plans on returning to Hood to get his master’s degree in business administration.
