Gift Ideas for Graduates

Many people, myself included, struggle with knowing what to get people for special occasions. With graduation quickly approaching, I thought it would be a good idea to make a list of some graduation gift ideas that I would want to buy myself. Listed vaguely from least to greatest, here are nine things you can get for that newly-graduated person in your life that I think they’d enjoy.

  1. Atomic Habits by James Clear

I’m sure you’ve seen this book floating around the internet. I know, fresh out of college most people won’t be looking to read more, but every person I know who has read this book has said it made a lasting impression. While I haven’t read it myself, its reputation precedes it. If your graduate is even remotely into the self-help scene, I’d recommend giving this book. You can get a hardcover copy on Amazon for $11.98.

  1. Saucemoto Dip Clip

While this one is a bit odd for a graduation, it is both subtly silly and practical. The Dip Clip goes in your cars air vents, and it holds all your dips and sauces. I personally have contemplated buying this, as I know it would significantly enhance the experience of any road trip or long drives I plan on taking. You can get a two-pack on Amazon for $11.99.

  1. Blue Light Glasses

Blue light glasses will actually change your life. Especially in the technology-heavy world we live in today, we collect so much screen time and it puts excessive strain on our eyes, minds and bodies. Whether they’ll be doing homework for grad school, working remotely, or watching too many Tik Toks before bed, blue light glasses will definitely improve their quality of life. And they deserve it. Because they’re awesome. Blue light glasses typically range from $10-$20.

  1. Waffle Maker

Waffles are just so fun. They taste good, they’re an instant serotonin boost, they aren’t that expensive when you make them at home, and they’re much better than eating Lucky Charms every day. They’re versatile and wonderful and new graduates deserve to have the ability to make waffles whenever they want. The Oster Belgian Waffle Maker is on Amazon for $17.

  1. Mberry Miracle Fruit Tablets

Apparently, everyone else missed this phase of the internet, because anytime I mention these no one has any idea what I’m talking about. Essentially, you let these tablets dissolve in your mouth and for 90 minutes you go on a “flavor trip” where any acidic/sour food or drink you can find will taste incredibly sweet. I personally have tried it with a handful of fruits, pickles, straight vinegar, and I even tried biting into an onion like it’s an apple and genuinely it is the weirdest experience ever. I don’t know what this has to do with graduation, but if someone got me these for any occasion, I’d be excited. You can get a 10-count two-pack on Amazon for $27.99.

  1. Whiskey Stone Bullets

I originally saw these on Tik Tok a while ago and months later I am still convinced this is one of the most badass things you can get on Amazon. They’re whiskey rocks…but bullets. I don’t even like whiskey, and I feel like I need these. If you want your graduate to be one of the coolest people alive, get them these. $28.99 on Amazon. You’re welcome.

  1. Life-size Cutout of Danny Devito

I don’t think this one needs explaining. $59.95 on Amazon. Next.

  1. Subscription Boxes

If you have a bit more money to put down on someone, subscription boxes are so much fun because it gives you something to look forward to every month. While they vary in price, you can find subscription boxes for pretty much anything. A few that I’ve heard good things about are Ipsy for makeup, Try Treats for international candies and snacks and Book of the Month for people who enjoy reading in their free time. No matter who you’re shopping for, you’re bound to find something that would interest them.

  1. Skydiving

Yes, skydiving. Sometimes experiences are worth more than physical objects, and this would definitely be something memorable. This can obviously be swapped with something more in your price range or interest (white water rafting, rage rooms, tree-top adventure rope courses, sensory deprivation tanks, renting jet skis for the day, et cetera), but when I graduated high school I found a deal on Groupon and three days later found myself jumping out of a plane and it was the perfect way to temporarily release the weight of all the change I was about to go through. If you can afford it, I definitely, definitely recommend finding something you and your graduate can do together that they’ll remember forever.
