Wisteria releases 2022 magazine

Hood College’s Wisteria Club just released its 2022 magazine, which is available around campus.

This new issue generated the most submissions the club has ever had, with 23 writers and 15 artists submitting at least one piece, said Rachel Shaw, the club’s review board manager.

With so many submissions, the club created a new rule to only publish one written piece by each author and no more than three art pieces from each artist, said Sanya Grace Kunicki, editor of the magazine.

“One element that makes this issue pop from the rest is the glossy finish on the cover,” Kunicki said. “I decided to order through a new printer this year to save money and have more freedom with the design, and the company recommended the finish to protect Nicole’s art on the front. We are so pleased with that gloss on the cover! It looks so professional and sleek.”

The club is open to submissions from the end of the fall semester to early spring semester. Kunicki said the review board members do their best to pick authors and artists as fairly as possible, not allowing students who know the creator to vote when picking which pieces to publish.

Those interested in joining the club should email Sanya Grace at sgk2@hood.edu, or Kylie Kuhlman at kak18@hood.edu for more information.

Those interested in having a piece published should watch for submission information during the fall semester. Keep in mind the pieces should have an artistic element to them and not need a trigger warning.
